2017

'Stop Trump's Muslim Ban, Stop May Supporting It', was a protest in Central London on the  4th February 2017. Tens of thousands of protestors met outside the US embassy in Mayfair to listen to speeches before heading to 10 Downing Street.

The Residential Triangle is a documentary project exploring three of the busiest main roads in Southwark. Walworth Road, Old Kent Road and Peckham's Rye Lane, all of which were less than two miles from my address at the time of the project. My intention was to record and preserve the details of these streets as they are now, for the future.

The Southwark Playhouse which is currently based on Newington Causeway was founded in 1993. After originally opening because of a need for accessible theatre as a community resource, it has since become one of the best studio theatres in London. The Playhouse has strong roots in the borough not only because of its location, but also thanks to its education programmes and community projects. They provide free weekly workshops for anyone who lives or works in Southwark and they are in high demand so a waiting list is in operation. The Young Company was established in 2009 and has since evolved to run two different groups. One being the 14-18 year olds, and the second the 19-25 year olds.

The 2017 London Marathon was the 37th version of the world-famous athletic event. It was held on the 23rd April and I photographed from Mudchute, which is Mile 17, so by this point the runners had passed the half-way point.

Yarl's Wood is an Immigration Removal Centre located in the Twinwoods Business Park near the countryside village of Milton Ernest in Bedfordshire. Since it opened in 2001 it has been shadowed with controversy. Allegations of violence, sexual abuse and inhumane treatment have been made repeatedly. Yarl's Wood holds approximately 400 detainees and is the location of poor healthcare, abuse from guards and multiple cases of self-harm including people jumping down stairs intentionally. Figures from the Freedom of Information Act show that there were 74 self-harm injuries that required medical treatment in 2013 alone.

The English Seaside Project, is an ongoing series of images with no intention other than to document trips along the almost 2000 miles of English coastline. This project developed the interest that went on to form my major project 'The Finest Place in the Universe', and has carried alongside my other work in my free time both for fun and also to build up another archive of England for the future.
